Escrow Officer and Office Manager

Phylisha Benevides

My name is Phylisha Benavides, and I am an Escrow Officer and the Officer Manager here at My Title Company of Texas (MTC).  I joined the MTC team in 2018.

Before coming to MTC I was a stay-at-home mom to my two beautiful children, Maddison, and Jacoby. I worked part time at our church’s Mother’s Day Out Program, mostly to keep my kids busy and so I could keep a close eye on them, like the helicopter mom I am. The year I applied at MTC, Maddison was starting middle school, and Jacoby was well established in elementary. I found myself ready for a new challenge of my own. The job search was very intimidating because I had “zero” office experience. A friend of mine reached out and told me about the receptionist position at MTC. I took a leap of faith and here we are! I was hired as a receptionist but quickly moved to escrow assistant. I enjoy learning new things, and I like a challenge. Theresa knew this about me and hit me with the question, “Do you want to be a closer?” I knew being a closer would take me out of my comfort zone! I would consider myself an introvert and closing would put me face to face with so many people. Again, taking a leap of faith I said yes! I am so glad I did, as I met so many amazing people at the closing table!

My job is preparing files, closing files and ensuring that every transaction closes efficiently. I balance CD’s, prepare HUDs, assist with closings, and my favorite, funding our recently closed files.  The satisfaction of marking a file closed and submitting a file to Janet, for policy, is one of my favorite feelings. Each file has its own story; closing a file is like completing a chapter, for every individual that was involved, and we were lucky enough to be a part of that chapter.

Lead Escrow Assistant

Dani Hernandez

I had worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years, when I developed a medical
condition that prevented me from doing what I loved on a regular basis.

After my first day at MTC, I knew I had found something that allowed me to use my
skills gained from working in restaurant industry in a new field, which I have grown
to love and respect.

I am proficient in knowing know how to anticipate client’s needs, adapt quickly to
ever changing priorities, concentrate on attention to details and thinking outside
the box, and most importantly, assure each client they are a priority.

I never imagined myself following this career path, however, now that I’m here, I
could not imagine doing anything else.

My knowledge and confidence is continually growing and I strive to be the best I
can be.

When I’m not at MTC assisting getting deals to the closing table, I’m at home with
my energetic dogs or editing videos and watching movies with my fiancé!

I appreciate a beautiful sky and every sunset and often are mesmerized by the
beautiful melody of a breathtaking cardinal.

Escrow Assistant

Janet Wright

My name is Janet Wright, and I am an Escrow Assistant here at My Title Company of Texas
(MTC). I have known MTC’s President, Theresa Wernette, for about 25 years, and have
worked alongside her many times in the past in volunteer activities with the organizations
our daughters have been involved with. I am privileged and excited to work with her now at
MTC.

I am new to the title world, as my education and background are in the world of accounting. I
have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting from
the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am a Certified Public Accountant and began my
career in public accounting at a large local accounting firm here in San Antonio. With two
young daughters at home at the time, I was struggling to maintain a good work/life balance.
With this goal in mind, I decided to transition into industry and started work at a Fortune 50
company headquartered here in San Antonio. I recently retired after 22 years and was very
ready and happy to take my stress level down a few notches. However, being a Type A
personality, I also wanted a bit of structure and some professional contact, so I decided to
give Theresa a call. We’d discussed on many occasions the possibility of me working with her
at MTC, but I didn’t know if she was really serious about it. As luck would have it, there was
an opening and she brought me onboard!

My main duties currently include taking care of accounts payable, maintaining the bank
accounts of the company, handling payroll and preparing the title policies for our clients.
Many of the skills and traits I used in the accounting world have been greatly beneficial to me
in my work here at MTC. I am extremely focused and detail-oriented which help to ensure
that my duties here at MTC are executed in a timely and accurate manner. I am also a big
proponent of providing excellent customer service and I can honestly say that MTC gets a 5-
star rating in this category!

I am thrilled to be a member of this vibrant and growing company. I learn something new
every single day I am here and am so excited about being able to work with and learn from
the other members of our team!

Let us show you what a difference a personal touch can make!
